A lot of the conversation over the past few years in the Video Game industry has been focused on negatives like layoffs, struggles with emerging technologies (e.g. AI), and lack of opportunities for junior devs. I can’t count the number of times I have heard, “It’s tough out there” – and that is an understatement. Fun and games is not all fun and games – even in the best of times; it is serious business, and the last few years have been difficult.
I did not intend to start a business a year ago; I just wanted to work on a project that I enjoy. After initial market research, I realized that Dive Buddies had real potential to be a serious project – and that it was worth investing in. I started this business to be that investment, and to counter those negatives that I saw in the industry.
When I was thinking seriously about our brand and what I wanted to bring to life, it was easy to latch onto mischief. Taking care of our rats, I am constantly able to witness how much they care for one another – even the newest adopted members. When we put a new chew hut in their home, they will swarm all over it with excitement and sheer curiosity to learn what it is. That curiosity, care, fun, and excitement – that mischief – is the heart of who we are.
It is ironic that an industry with such a cutthroat reputation is full of people who genuinely wish the best for others, and who will stop what they are doing to help if they can. I reached out to a friend – a very talented artist and animator – and commissioned her to help bring this vision for Mischief Games to life in a logo. I am pleased to be able to share this logo with you here:

Gloria Fish blew me away with her thoughtful and professional interpretation, and I am proud that this will be the first thing many people see from Mischief Games for years to come.
This is already much longer than I planned – but I wanted to take a moment to explain why it was so important to me to get this right; thanks for bearing with me. We will be updating the logo on our systems over the next few days.
